WE LOVE A GOOD DIY…
There’s just something so fulfilling about spending a day, an afternoon or even just ten minutes searching and whipping up a quick DIY project! With so many to choose from and so many helpful DIY masters out there, you’re sure to find something to remedy any ailment you’ve got going on, ranging from a backache to just plain flaky skin!
I for one, am a huge fan of DIY beauty products and have tested a wide range of made-at-home body scrubs and hair masks, endlessly searching for those that make life that little bit more rewarding just because I achieved results by my own two hands!
So I’ve decided to share with you three of my all-time favourite DIY projects that make any relaxation day or self-care night seem all the more satisfying.
They’re simple, easy and quick to achieve – and include the links to the original sources below each project, so you can save them for yourself or even continue to search on these particular sites for more projects to do!
LEGS LIKE A NEWBORN BABY SUGAR SCRUB!
This particular post is one that I came across a long, long time ago. I was mindlessly scrolling through social media and I happened across this DIY body scrub, thinking it was just another fun thing to try out for myself, but oh my, does this thing work wonders!
I will link the original post below, but if you wanna skip the expletives and weirdly specific descriptions, here’s the recipe for gorgeous, silky smooth legs (or any other part of your body, honestly)!
You will need:
- White sugar/brown sugar
- Oil (any oil, cheap oil, expensive oil, whatever you want!)
- Vanilla essence (or whichever scent you prefer!)
- Cheap razors
Here’s what to do:
- Mix 1 part oil to 2 parts sugar
- Add in a few drops of scent, as much as you desire!
- Mix it up until it’s completely combined
- Shave your bod as usual! Using a nice razor, not the cheap ones!
- Scoop out the scrub and rub onto shaved areas (ladies, please do not use this on or near your intimate areas! Sugar should not be near these bits!)
- Keep on rubbing until your skin feels thoroughly cleansed
- Take the cheap razor and shave the area over again – this scrapes off all the excess dead skin, leaving behind the softest, baby-like skin imaginable!
- Wash your body thoroughly to get rid of the oiliness
- Enjoy your beautiful smooth skin!
Simple, quick and easy!

DELIGHTFULLY DELICIOUS CINNAMON LIP SCRUB!
Now listen up. Lip scrubs are not something that we typically think about. They’re usually known to be a luxury or something fun we buy on a whim, but they’re actually ridiculously easy to make and are so worth adding to your regular routine!
We love smooth, silky feeling lips and dry, flaky skin is never a nice thing to feel on your mouth (we see you, split lips, and you’re not welcome here), so banish them forever with this delicious little lip scrub recipe!
You will need:
- Coconut Oil – 2 tbsp
- Brown Sugar – 1 tbsp
- Ground Cinnamon – 1 tsp
- You can add 1 tsp of Vitamin E Oil too if desired!
Here’s what to do:
- In a small bowl, combine everything
- Stir until all ingredients are well mixed
- Scoop and gently rub onto lips for about 30 seconds
- Wipe off with a wet washcloth and enjoy beautiful lips!
These little scrubs make for the perfect treat to take on the go, especially since you can put them into cute little jars and take them with you absolutely everywhere!

SHINY, GLOSSY, TOTALLY HEALTHY HAIR RINSE!
Ever hear of build-up on hair? No? I didn’t know about it either until I read about how good apple cider vinegar is for hair.
I know what you’re thinking, ACV smells absolutely gross and why would you ever want to put that in your hair? Trust me, I thought the exact same thing, but after I made the hair rinse, I was honestly blown away by the results!
ACV helps to strip away all the nasty build up on hair roots, including build up of products, dead skin and other gunk that finds its way to our roots, leaving you with silky soft and shiny hair!
Here is an easy-to-make ACV hair rinse DIY – and get this, some of the ingredients can be reused for other DIYs too!
You will need:
- Apple Cider Vinegar – ¼ cup
- Filtered Water – 1 cup
- Lavender Essential Oil
- A Spray Bottle – for easy access!
Here’s what to do:
- Add water and ACV to bottle
- Add anywhere between 5 – 10 drops of Lavender Essential Oil
- Spray onto damp hair – either before or after shampooing – being sure to saturate hair completely from root to end
- Let rest for 2 full minutes
- Rinse out well (preferably with cold water)
- Follow with conditioner as usual!
There’s a lot of recipes and variations to this DIY, they’re easily searched and altered however you please by adding different combinations of essential oils and other ingredients to promote healthy hair, this recipe above is one I personally swear by!
See how easy it is to take care of your body at home? These ingredients are so quick to get your hands on and totally versatile, meaning you can use them over and over again for the same DIY projects or even new ones you wanna try!
Make this week a self-care week and treat your body to one of these amazing DIYs!
